In-state quarterback has college potential
John Hekker started just one game as a junior, playing behind a multi-year starter at his position. The 6-foot-5, 203-pound pro-style quarterback from Bothell (Wash.) High completed 19-of-31 passes for 370 yards and four touchdowns.
Hekker hopes a strong senior campaign with help him earn a Division-1 scholarship offer.
"I think my ability to make decisions in the pocket and my arm strength is what sets me apart at the high school level," he said. "I'm agile but I like to stay in the pocket and pick apart defenses. I also have a variety of throws that I can make. I can loop it over the linebackers or punch it through the holes when I need to."
