UGA loses commitment

The University of Georgia has landed a number of high profile commitments early in the process, but no commitments are official until the papers are signed in February. Many commitments have picked up new offers this spring and that is the case for B.J. Brand. Brand committed to UGA back in January, but UGASports.com reported last week that he may be wavering. We caught up with Brand to see if he was committed or not.

"No sir, I de-committed to Georgia recently," said Brand when asked if he was still a Georgia Bulldog. "I made a real quick decision and I like Georgia a lot, but I just want to make sure of things."

Brand says he gave the news to his recruiting coach at Georgia.

"I told Coach Tony Ball that I just wanted to look around a little bit and make sure of my commitment," he said. "I am not sure if he was mad or anything, but he told me that Georgia still wants me and he will keep on recruiting me. I let him know I wanted to be sure of everything."

A couple new options are now on the table for this 6-foot-4, 323-pound offensive guard out of Douglas (Ga.) - Coffee. Offers from LSU, N.C. State, South Carolina, and Georgia were in before he gave the Dawgs his verbal, but two more Southern programs have joined the race now.

"Auburn and Florida State have offered me so far this spring. A lot of schools have come through and some other schools have talked to my coach about me, but those are the only two that have offered I think."
