Video: Butler doesn't train like a punter
Many would think that kickers or punters do not train hard in the off-season or get after it in the weight room like other positions do, but that is not the case with Drew Butler. Butler trains hard at Competitive Edge Sports and he trains the same way that any other prospect would. He is working his total body hard as he prepares to make a run at the starting punter job in Athens.
Butler couldn't hardly bench anything when he first started working out at CES with trainer Ryan Golden. He started this about two years ago and he has come a long way.
Punter may be his position, but he is in there training with guys like linebacker Rennie Curran, lineman Clint Boling, and many other prospects that play other positions.
Butler let it be known from the beginning that he did not want to be trained or treated like a punter when he enrolled at CES and that mind-set has made him stronger from top to bottom. His work ethic stands out immediately and he is willing to do what it takes to make him the best punter at UGA as he can be.
UGASports.com traveled over to CES recently to watch Butler train and to show the Dawg fans out there what he is doing to prepare for his arrival in June.
This video is a MUST SEE for ALL Dawg fans as Butler trains hard. He works his arms, hands, legs, and really shows how dedicated he is the Bulldog program. We also talk with Butler and his trainer throughout the work out and they break down just what this training means and how far Butler has come.
