Cyclones strong with tight end teammates

Omaha (Neb.) Westside has talent at a lot of positions - it advanced to the state championship game last season - but perhaps nowhere is it more abundantly rich than at tight end. The Warriors have two potential Division I tight ends and both are interested in Iowa State. One attended the Cyclone spring game and the other has visited unofficially.

Damon Bechtold is a 6-foot-4, 210-pounder whose junior season wasn't what it could have been due to a knee injury. Still, plenty of D-I schools are interested in him. Westside head coach Marty Kauffman said Bechtold is healthy and should impress at camps this summer.

Westside's other top tight end is 6-foot-4. 235-pound Tim Biere. He manned the position for most of 2006 with Bechtold's injury and has netted one scholarship offer so far, from Kansas State. His favorites as of early April were Kansas State, Nebraska, Iowa State and Iowa. Like Bechtold, he'll hit several camps this summer.
