A.J. Simmons battling for a spot

6-foot-3 redshirt freshman tight end A.J. Simmons was one of Arizona's biggest commitments in its 2006 recruiting class. Simmons, rated four-stars by Rivals.com out of high school, chose Arizona over offers from schools such as Oregon, California and Oregon State.

After showing up on campus at 280 pounds, Simmons was redshirted so he could learn the UA system and lose weight. He's now weighing 250 pounds and looks to make an impact this spring at a position where the Wildcats definitely need help.

So far this spring, Simmons has made a good impression in the UA's spread offense.
