Are Spartans done with class of 2007?

On signing day three names that were expected to be on the commitment list did not appear on the official press releases. SpartanMag.com takes a quick look at each.

  • DE Michael Jordan: Jordan did not sign due to the fact that he is still trying to finish up his coursework at junior college. If he can complete the academic requirements look for him to join Coach Dantonio and the Spartans.

  • LB George White: White signed with the University of Missouri. White is still trying to achieve a qualifying ACT score and could be headed to Prep School or a JUCO. If he does end up at Prep the Spartans could certainly re-recruit White. This was not a surprise to the Spartans staff.

  • DB: Cedric Everson: This is the one that left a bad taste. Everson was verbally committed to Michigan State, but sent his letter of intent into Iowa. He apparently gave the MSU staff no prior notice and the staff was not able to contact other possible recruits. Everson's unexpected move probably cost another prospect a Michigan State scholarship offer.

With those three defections the Spartans are in a position to sign a few more players for the class of 2006. The good news is that if they use these available scholarship spots they can do so in a manner that better address the current needs of the team.
