Video Exclusive: Complete Rojo press conference

MUSKEGON, Mich. - Most of Muskegon was shut down by a week of lake effect snow Sunday.

But that did not keep family members, friends, and a large contingent of media from traveling to the lakeshore to watch Parade All-American Ronald Johnson announce his decision to play football for Pete Carroll at USC.

Johnson chose Southern Cal out of a group of five finalists that included Michigan State, Florida, Ohio State and Michigan.

At one time thought to be a lock for Michigan, Johnson defied conventional wisdom by eliminating the Wolverines early last week. Johnson's decision came as a shock to some that believed that Rojo would follow in the footsteps of a former teammate Terrance Taylor and play for Lloyd Carr.

Spartanmag.com has reported for the last 12 months that Rojo was not near as likely to sign with Michigan as many had assumed. Last week, Spartanmag.com began hearing chatter that Johnson was leaning toward signing with USC.

Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio had the Spartans in the hunt for the top cornerback to come out of Michigan Since Todd Lyght signed with Notre Dame out of Flint Powers Catholic.

Johnson's press conference lasted for nearly a half hour Sunday. A number of speakers preceded Rojo at the pulpit, including his high school coach Tony Anese, his grandmother, his father, and family friend judge Greg Pittman. Ron Johnson's mother closed the ceremony with speech of her own.

Members of the media were asked to the Johnson's family's request for no interviews following Rojo's announcement.
