In-state athlete picks Spartans

Head Coach Mark Dantonio continues to close at an impressive rate on the recruits he is targeting for the Michigan State class of 2007. SpartanMag.com has the latest commitment information from the weekend official visitors.

SpartanMag.com was able to speak with the father of tight end recruit Kevin Pickelman of Marshall High School in Michigan. The 6-foot-3, 240-pound prospect took and official visit to Michigan State this weekend.

Mr. Pickelman confirmed that his son committed to Coach Dantonio and the Spartans last night.

According to what Mr. Pickelman said, the Spartans like Pickelman as a tight-end/fullback for the class. Essentially Pickleman will likely occupy a role that can best be described as a H-Back.

Pickelman was at one point a Central Michigan commitment, but he opened his recruitment back up after Coach Kelly decided to leave for Cincinnati. Coach Kelly asked Pickelman if he was interested in Cincinnati, but he indicated he wanted to stay close to home.

SpartanMag.com will have much more on this commitment later today incluidng quotes from Pickelman.

Pickelman is the 20th member of the Michigan State recruiting class.
