Dent looks to make an impact

One of the few names not mentioned much this season out of Georgia's heralded 2006 recruiting class was freshman linebacker Akeem Dent. Dent a four-star linebacker out of Douglass High School in Atlanta, was the twelfth ranked outside linebacker in the nation according to Rivals.com.

With the departures of three senior starting linebackers (Jarvis Jackson, Tony Taylor, and Danny Verdun) and the LCL injury to Marcus Washington, Dent may be thrown into action as a redshirt freshman.

Dent spent his first year in Athens putting on weight and studying under the leadership of his fellow linebackers. Verdun took an active interest in the maturation of all of the freshmen linebackers and Dent thinks he really aided in his development.
