Milner's season much like Georgia's
It has not always been easy for senior tight end Martrez Milner and his final season in Athens mirrored the on the field successes and failures of the Bulldogs team as a whole.
Milner finished his senior campaign as the teams leading receiver in 2006 with 30 receptions for 425 yards, three touchdowns, and first team All-SEC honors.
Milner battled injuries and consistency throughout the 2006 season even losing his starting spot to sophomore tight Tripp Chandler before the Mississippi State game due to injury and the Kentucky game due to excessive drops in the Florida game. Despite not being the starter Milner played the majority of the tight end snaps in both games and eventually won back the favor of the coaching staff.
"Coach Richt, coach Bobo, and the rest of the staff showed me even though a player has his ups and downs and I dropped some big passes, that they still have faith in me and confidence that I can make big plays," said Milner.
All along Milner continued to work and showed flashes of brilliance against Kentucky off the bench and Auburn and Georgia Tech.
