Q&A with Willie Martinez

Following two huge upsets of top 15 opponents UGASports caught up with defensive coordinator Willie Martinez to ask him about the impressive play of the Georgia defense in the last two games.

UGASports: What do these last two wins say about this Georgia defense given the criticism you faced earlier this season?

Martinez: "We have great leadership and I have said it all along. I said it to you guys at the Auburn game that you cannot do what we did today and what we did at Auburn if you have a bunch of guys who cannot handle adversity. When things were not going right you cannot point fingers and you have to settle down play better, coach better, and do things better. We have been able to create turnovers, our defensive line is playing well, our linebackers are playing well, and our defensive backs are consistent. In the last couple of games (the defensive backs) have been more consistent and made more plays and that has been the big difference. Now they are playing as a unit better and as a team."
