Bears Bend, But Beat UCLA, 38-24
The Cal Bears got revenge over a heartbreaking loss last season, beating the UCLA Bruins, 38-24, at Memorial Stadium on Saturday to win their eighth-straight game. The Bears remain in first place in the conference with a perfect 6-0 mark.
For the first time this season, the Cal Bears won a game in which they lost the overall yardage battle. Amazingly, the gap between them and UCLA was 84 yards. The bend but don't break philosophy of the Cal defense worked yet again. This time it bent so much you could practically hear the wood cracking as it strained.
