NU Notes: Husker backs looking for the big run
Through two games Nebraska ranks sixth in the nation rushing and first in the Big 12 Conference with an average of 256.5 yards per game.
This number is a far cry from the Huskers 2005 rushing output that ranked last in the Big 12 Conference.
All four of Nebraska's running backs average between 5.2 and 6.5 yards per carry. However, the one interesting stat through two games is NU's running backs have only had two runs longer 20 yards.
Sophomore Marlon Lucky leads the way for the Huskers with 182 yards on 31 carries, but his season long run is only 13 yards.
Head coach Bill Callahan said the fact NU's running backs haven't broken the very many big runs through two games isn't a huge concern to him, mainly because their play has been so consistent.
"We always tell them lets get four yards for the team and whatever else you get after that you're on your own," Callahan said. "But lets get four yards for the team first, and a first-and-ten for the team and that's all we're concerned about."
