Goddard to miss season

North Carolina strong safety Trimane Goddard suffered a fractured fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot while pushing off in a practice drill on Sunday. He re-injured the same bone that he fractured and had surgery on last Februry.


Goodard will in all likelihood miss the entire 2006 season.


"We're going to miss him," North Carolina head coach John Bunting said following Tuesday's practice. "I just told the kids - our defense, offense and special teams are going to have to pick it up to make up for the loss. He is special."
