Friday Practice Report
After a walk-through practice this morning, the Trojans returned to Howard Jones Field this afternoon for their second day of fall camp.
With more than 20 freshmen joining USC's returning lettermen, the nation's No. 1 recruiting class had its first opportunity to make plays with and against the Trojans' first team units.
Wide receiver Vidal Hazleton came to USC as a five-star recruit, and today, the 6-foot-2, 195-pound standout from Chatham (Va.) Hargrave Prep made several plays that lived up to his five-star reputation.
Hazelton, originally from New York, was the only freshman to practice with USC's veteran unit yesterday. Looking extremely confident and poised against more experienced competition, Hazelton made several nice catches in traffic. Today, Hazelton took a play out of his Rivals.com highlight reel by diving down the left sideline and making a one-handed catch over fellow freshman, Vincent Joseph.
However, the result of big plays is not as important as how they're made. Hazelton's physical gifts are matched with a maturity that will allow him to make an immediate impact for USC if needed.
