Auburn head coach Tommy Tuberville is making a statement, and he's using two of his top linebackers, both potential starters, as examples.
Tuberville said Friday at the SEC Media Days in Birmingham that both senior Kevin Sears and redshirt freshman Tray Blackmon will miss "quite a few games" for their recent run-ins with the law.
"Our guys need to learn that there's no distractions, and you've got to pay the price like the rest of your teammates. And if you don't, then you'll pay the price in my house," said Tuberville.
Sears was arrested in November 2005 following the Tigers' win over Kentucky. He was charged with driving under the influence and public drunkenness and was also involved in a single-car accident according to the Auburn police department.
Sears was suspended for the Georgia game, but returned for the Iron Bowl a week later. He did not play in the bowl game for what was deemed "personal reasons". Last month, Sears' charges turned into convictions as he was found guilty of public intoxication, leaving the scene of an accident and driving while legally intoxicated.
