Jackson likely to officially visit NC State

Two years ago NC State signed a defensive tackle from Varina High in Richmond named Alan-Michael Cash. State is hoping that is the connection that lands the Pack another star from that high school.

"I talk to (Cash) all the time," Varina linebacker Jamar Jackson said. "I talk to him about NC State. He says how good it is up there and how he likes the coaches."

Jackson, 6-foot-4, 225 pounds with reported 4.6-second speed in the 40-yard dash, has an offer from NC State. He is being recruiting by defensive coordinator and linebacker coach Steve Dunlap. Jackson made an unofficial visit to Raleigh earlier this month.

"(Coach Dunlap) is a cool guy," Jackson said. "I liked everything at NC State. Everything was new. I liked the campus and stuff. I really liked the new football facilities."

Jackson also went to a camp at Virginia Tech, and he is expected to visit Syracuse this summer as well. He owns offers from both of those schools as well as Boston College, Duke, East Carolina, Temple and Ball State.
