Behrens making an impression
In the game of recruiting, word can often get out fast about a prospect. One school will pull the trigger, and then others soon follow. That's been the case with Blake Behrens, a hard-working 6-foot-2, 275-pound offensive lineman from Brophy Prep School in Phoenix. Oregon State identified him early, and now the Beavers are hoping that their early impression will pay off as others jump into the mix for his future services.
Behrens has been trying to make an impression of his own this off-season. He's hit two events thus far, and is hoping his schedule will allow for a couple more in the next few months. "Everything is going well," Behrens said. "At the Stanford Nike Combine I didn't test as well as I thought I should, but I still did well in the one-on-ones, so that was really good. I had a good time there. I was also down at U of A (Arizona) camp last Sunday for about two hours. It was a good experience going up against a group of guys. I'm in summer school right now, but I'm hoping to go to camps at Miami and Colorado (later this summer)."
The plan for Behrens is to increase his exposure to several of the schools currently looking hard at him. "Recruiting is going pretty good, and things are starting to pick up," Behrens said. "After Oregon State offered me, I got offers from Utah, UTEP, Colorado State, and Boise State. I'm also hearing a lot from Colorado, Arizona, Arizona State, and Miami. I'm definitely still open right now. I'm not going to narrow it down until I feel more comfortable about all the schools."
