Wyoming offers in-state pair
The scholarship offers to in-state prospects have been rolling in at a considerable clip over the past couple of weeks, and two buddies from small towns in the West Omaha suburbs joined the club with their first offers. Elkhorn's Kevin Thomsen and Gretna's Alex Stover were tendered by the Wyoming Cowboys this past week. Which other Division I schools are recruiting them?
"Yeah, I got an offer from Wyoming," the 6-foot-2, 250-pound Thomsen said. "Coach (Mike) Breske called on (Friday) to let me know at my house."
Wyoming is definitely not the only DI school courting Thomsen.
"Other schools have been in there recruiting me too. Iowa, has been pretty hard at it, Iowa State and Nebraska send me stuff, and I get handwritten letters from Kansas State and Iowa. Kansas is also sending me stuff. I'm still pretty much open."
Several interested coaches called or visited his school in May.
"I talk to coach Breske quite a bit, and I like talking to coach (Reese) Morgan from Iowa, coach (Brandon) Blaney from Kansas, and Kansas State coach (Tim) Tibesar. No other coaches have called me. All of them have visited my school and talked to me too, except Nebraska and Iowa State."
Though he hasn't been offered by Nebraska, they have been showing him considerable attention.
"They're one of the schools that probably sends me the most stuff. My coach has told me that coach (Ted) Gilmore called (at school). They invited me to the spring game and wanted me to come to camp. I tried to call coach Gilmore back, but I never got a hold of him. I went to the Nebraska spring game and it was fun. It was good, I liked it."
