Watt becomes a Wildcat

Glen Ellyn (IL) Glenbard West prospect Kevin Watt decided that Northwestern was the place for him. So, rather than waiting to see what other offers might come his way, he committed to the Wildcats yesterday, becoming the second member of NU's Class of 2007.

Northwestern was Watt's only offer and some players might have waited to see if any other potential suitors - and there were plenty of them - would come through with a scholarship.

But to Watt, Northwestern offers a combination of football and academics that's awfully rare in college football.

Because Watt lives only about an hour from Northwestern's Evanston campus, he was able to visit the school "three or four times" in the last three months. On those visits, Northwestern's coaches really made an impression him.
