Football legacy visits Georgia Tech

If there's such a thing as a football gene, the men in the Matthews family certainly have it. Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian Casey Matthews, who is one of the top prospects in the Class of 2007, is related to some of the best ironmen in NFL history.

Matthews is the son of former NFL linebacker Clay Matthews, who played 19 seasons in the league, and his uncle is former NFL offensive lineman Bruce Matthews, another 19-year veteran who holds the NFL record for most games played by a non-kicker. His grandfather is Clay Matthews, Sr., the former Georgia Tech All-American who is in the Yellow Jackets' Hall of Fame. Clay Matthews III, his brother, is currently a sophomore linebacker as his father and uncle's alma mater, USC.

Casey Matthews has been on the Georgia Tech radar for quite some time and he received an offer from the Jackets in March. He was in Atlanta last week to take a closer look at the school.
