Stoops and the Sooners Say Aloha

Bob Stoops may have been the head man in Norman for quickly approaching 15 years and for all of his staff's national recruiting efforts at various points in that span he has, according to Rivals, never recruited a player from Hawaii. That changed recently, and not surprisingly it came directly due to one of Stoops' newest coaching hires.

New defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery had a unique connection to star Honolulu Farrington defensive end Breiden Fehoko and the two have already begun to build a relationship from that bond.

"You know coach Montgomery, he is very familiar with the Polynesian players and a good family friend of ours is a friend of coach and he said 'coach take a look at this guy', and coach Montgomery turned on my tape and gave me the offer," Fehoko recalled.

"I know a lot about Oklahoma, there is so much history about Oklahoma. Good guys, Adrian Peterson, the greats that come out of there. The newer guys like Sam Bradford, all these guys and they've built the Oklahoma name, the Boomer Sooner to where it has become. Everyone appreciating it now, Oklahoma an offer from them means a lot."
