Top 2015 DE visits Iowa

With eleven major scholarship offers already on the table, Minnesota defensive end Jashon Cornell is one of the more highly sought after prospects in the nation in the Class of 2015. This weekend, the 6-foot-4, 227-pound sophomore visited the first school to offer him, the Iowa Hawkeyes, as he took in their spring game at Kinnick Stadium on Saturday. We caught up with Cornell to talk about the trip and get the latest on his recruiting.

Q: Can you talk a little bit about your trip to Iowa this weekend?

CORNELL: My visit to Iowa was really good. The whole coaching staff showed me a lot of love down there. They were the first school to offer me, so going down there was a big part of my recruitment, just seeing what Iowa is like.

Q: Was that your second or third visit down there overall?

CORNELL: Yeah, that was my third time down there.

Q: What were some of things you go to see and do this time?

CORNELL: This time I went to the spring game, I ate dinner with the team, and after that I hung out with some of the players and some of the guys that are committed and going there next year.

As a sophomore, Cornell finished the season with 52 tackles, 26 TFL, and 14 sacks for Cretin-Derham Hall. Currently, he holds scholarship offers from Iowa, Minnesota, Notre Dame, USC, Florida, Wisconsin, Penn State, California, Rutgers, South Florida, and Missouri.
