Burns recaps senior season, talks Card future

Ryan Burns' dream senior season came up six points short. After navigating through the regular season and several rounds of the state playoffs to the tune of a 14-0 record, Burns and Stone Bridge nearly overcame a 20-0 deficit in the Virginia AAA Division 5 final, but wound up suffering a heartbreaking 20-14 loss to Lake Taylor.

"It's tough," Burns said. "Just knowing that I'm not going to play high school football ever again, it's always tough. "It's been rough, but I'm getting over it and have to get ready for the Army game next week."

Indeed, the bigger picture for Burns is still bright. The Rivals 100 recruit's senior year statistics were markedly better than his junior year numbers. Burns completed 55 percent of his passes and threw 28 touchdowns in 2012, more than double his output from a year ago.
