Starkville still feels like home for Coman
Kivon Coman hoped to be a part of Mississippi State's Gator Bowl season this year.
But some academic concerns caused those plans to change. After signing with the Bulldogs in February, Coman was forced to enroll at Hargrave (Va.) Military Academy for one semester and plans to enroll at MSU next semester.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound safety took his second official visit to Starkville in as many years this past weekend to find out that a few things have changed but that feeling of home remained.
"It feels like home once again," Coman said. "I saw the new indoor (football) facility and that thing is amazing. I met a lot of new people that I hadn't met. Mississippi State feels like family and I really like it down there. I can't wait to get down there in January."
Coman was able to get a firsthand opinion of what it is like to be a Bulldog from his cousin Beniquez Brown. The duo from Florence, Ala., both signed with MSU together with Brown earning a redshirt this past season.
"He told me that he loves it and that things won't be easy," Coman said. "He told me they come in there and work hard. He said that if that's what I do then I should be able to come in there and play as a true freshman."
Coman also had another Bulldog signee with him at Hargrave. Tight end Artimas Samuel also inked with the Bulldogs in February but failed to qualify academically.
