Defensive Points + Giant Killer Award: BYU

Untitled Document

It was a huge day for the secondary as three defensive backs were within a quarter of a point away from one another. In fact, for the first time this season we have co-Giant Killer MVP Award winners as Ryan Murphy and Rashaad Reynolds tied this week.

Murphy led the team with 11 tackles, while Reynolds only had three tackles, but added points with an interception and a pass break-up. A pick-6 almost catapulted Jordan Poyer to the top of the list, but he missed the cut by a mere .25 of a point.

Linebacker Michael Doctor had a big game for the Beavers, tallying ten tackles on the day. Feti Taumoepeau, Rueben Robinson, and D.J. Alexander added 14 tackles.

Defensive end Scott Crichton earned his fourth straight MVP award, contributing two sacks and a quarterback hurry to the stat sheet. The entire defensive front was active on Saturday, with Dylan Wynn, Castro Masaniai, Andrew Seumalo, John Braun and Rudolf Fifita all adding some big tackles up front for the team.
