Thomas talks on Alexander Commitment

Gregory Alexander, shooting guard for the Kecaughtan High School basketball team in Hampton, Virginia, has committed to playing basketball for East Carolina University.

The 6-foot, 4-inch 180 pound athlete had offers from ECU, Appalachian State, Charleston Southern, Elon, Holy Cross, Mount St. Mary's, North Carolina - Greensboro, Presbyterian, Ratford, University of Texas El Paso, and William & Mary. He attracted interest from Old Dominion and Rider. He chose ECU over William & Mary..

Ivan Thomas, head basketball coach for Kecaughtan High School, said that it was Alexander's maturity and becoming more comfortable which accounted for his outstanding improvement in summer ball.

"In his junior year he averaged close to eight or nine points per game," said Thomas. "But he was fortunate to go to Providence and play the exact same position. He just had the opportunity to have a great summer. He had a 30 point game, a 40 point game. He was able to really showcase his talent this summer. He's a late bloomer. He's only 16 years old.
