Heavens savoring each day at State

Brandon Heavens' time at Mississippi State is winding down.

And the senior wide receiver is fully aware that his days in Starkville are now numbered. The Bessemer, Ala., native is trying to make the most of each day both on and off the field.

"It seemed like just the other day we were going through spring," Heavens said. "I know it's going to fly by fast so I'm going to enjoy all the time I can."

Heavens has played in all 38 games for the Bulldogs over the last four years including four starts. He has hauled in 39 passes for 466 yards and three touchdowns.

During his final season Heavens hopes to be a reliable target for Tyler Russell in the passing game.

"This year I want to be more consistent," Heavens said. "I want to help the team in any way I can at any position. It doesn't matter if they want me to go inside or outside or on special teams, I just want to help the team."

The 5-foot-10, 170-pounder spent fall camp learning a new position. After spending the first three years of his career in the slot, Heavens has now moved outside behind fellow senior Chris Smith.
