Hawks host top long snapper
With Casey Kreiter going into his junior year this season, the Hawkeyes will be looking for a new long snapper pretty soon and may have found their man in Marshalltown native Tyler Kluver. On Saturday, the 6-foot-0, 220-pound Kluver visited Iowa's practice and is strongly considering walking on with the Hawkeyes next year.
"I went down to Iowa on Saturday with my dad," said Kluver. "We went on a little tour of the coaches' office and the weight room and then got to see the new indoor facility. Then we went down to watch their scrimmage and I got to talk to Casey Kreiter, who is the current long snapper, which is what I was there for."
At Marshalltown High School, Kluver is a starter at linebacker where he had 72 tackles, 11 TFL, and three interceptions as a junior last year. The Class of 2013 prospect is still getting used to the idea of focusing just on long snapping in college if that is the route he chooses.
