Notebook: competition at WR and TE sorting itself out

EAST LANSING - Offensive coordinator Dan Roushar said on Wednesday that he expects junior Blake Treadwell to miss the next four weeks while recovering from a stress fracture in his tibia sustained during non-contact drills the first week of training camp.

The sixth-year Michigan State assistant, however, expects no drop off at left guard position with redshirt freshman Jack Allen starting.

"I have been very impressed," said Roushar of Allen, a 6-foot-1, 295-pounder from Hinsdale, Ill. "I thought that he had a heck of a scrimmage, graded out very highly, was very sound. He is an excellent run-blocker. I think we've got a guy that has a chance to be very special in there for us. He continues to get better. I like his work ethic and his determination."
