Ott growing into DE

Nebraska native Drew Ott has a busy summer ahead with three-star all games scheduled before he will report to Iowa for off-season workouts. Ott, who is up to 247 pounds this spring, talks about his upcoming freshman year with the Hawkeyes, making the move to defensive end in college, and much more.

Q: Are you already done with high school at this point?

OTT: Yeah, I've been done for a couple of weeks. We graduated on May 6.

Q: Has your primary focus been track these last few weeks then?

OTT: Yeah, we just had state track. I threw 56'4" in the shot put and got second and our 4x100 team got sixth.

Q: Was that Mike Shoff that beat you in the shot put? Nathan Bazata was down there too right?

OTT: Yeah, Shoff threw 60' and got first. Bazata threw 54' something I think.

Q: What did you think when you heard Bazata committed to Iowa for next year being a kid the same division as you?

OTT: That will be pretty cool. We've actually played against each other three times. It will be good having someone I know on the team.

Q: What did you see from him when your teams played each other?

OTT: He always tore up our center, no matter who it was. He's quite a force to be reckoned with.
