Eagles, Gophers lead for linebacker

Jack Fordon made the long trip from Illinois to Chestnut Hill over the weekend with his father so he could check out Boston College, one of the schools that has been showing him the most interest so far.

The 6-foot-2, 222-pound inside linebacker from Frankfort (Ill.) Providence Catholic had a blast at BC on Saturday and the Eagles appear to be in great shape should they decide to offer.

"It was really nice," Fordon told EagleAction.com.

Fordon and his father got a bus tour around the campus and then they walked a bit themselves. The game was obviously one of the highlights of the trip.

"The game was pretty cool. It was pretty cool watching the linebackers was pretty cool because one of them is from Chicago."

While Fordon was having breakfast on Saturday a couple of the coaches made their way over to introduce themselves.

"I talked to the head coach and our area recruiting coach," he noted. "Then later I talked to Aaron Smith."

The Eagles invited Fordon to their summer camp and he's still trying to decide whether he will be able to make that.

He has already taken trips to Indiana, Minnesota, Illinois, Purdue and Western Michigan. What's he thinking now that he's been out and about?

"I mean, I really liked Boston College but I really liked Minnesota, too," he said. "Those two are at the top so far. They've both been showing the same amount of interest so I like them."
