Rutgers commit visits BC
Since head coach Greg Schiano took the Tampa Bay Buccaneers job last Thursday, the Rutgers commitments have been scrambling to look for backup plans while waiting for a new head coach to be named. One of them visited BC this weekend under-the-radar. How did it go?
"I took an official to BC this weekend, we kept it kind of quiet," said tight end Michael Giacone from Jersey City (N.J.) St. Peter's Prep. "It was a pretty good trip, my host was Mike Naples who is a sophomore tight end there and I got to speak to Will Thompson who comes from my school. I didn't really know him before but it was good to talk to him."
Giacone remains committed to Rutgers but BC gave him plenty of things to think about.
"They need a tight end in this class, it's a great school, they have good academics and I like the coaches," he said. "The coaches and the players were all cool. I thought about choosing BC because of the stability and that Rutgers hasn't named a coach yet, but I know I have to settle down and take my time. I'll talk to my coach Monday and we'll take it from there, I might have to sign after Wednesday."
As of right now it appears to be a two-team race between Rutgers and BC.
"Those are the two," he said. "I don't know if I'll take any other visits, I doubt it. I'm still committed to Rutgers and I just have to wait and see what happens."
