Status quo for Elder?

Banneker High School defensive back Chaz Elder is one of the top uncommitted prospects in Georgia.

The Atlanta native had a commitment date set for early fall where is appeared he would be committing to South Carolina, but he decided to postpone that announcement.

The postponement gave the home state Bulldogs new life, and Georgia was able to host Elder this weekend for its football Gala in hopes of swaying him to the red and black.

"I would have to rate the visit a 10 really," said Elder. "The best part was sitting down with Coach (Scott) Lakatos and just learning how the safeties work in that defense. That was pretty cool. Georgia helped their cause."

An important factor in every player's official visit is their host, and Elder knew quite a bit about his host before they even met.

"My host was Damian Swann, and he is a good dude," said Elder. "I didn't know him before the visit, but I knew who he was and that he was a really good player and all."

Despite the fact that Elder decided to wait before making his college choice known, it has been widely speculated that the Gamecocks still had the lead.

After his visit to Georgia, things seem to have remained the same.

"I'd still say that South Carolina is on top with Georgia behind them, and Vanderbilt a little too," he said. "At South Carolina, it just feels like home. I have a great relationship with the coaches. They also want me at cornerback, and that has an effect too."

Elder says that he isn't ready to make a decision yet, but he will be ready very soon.

"I leave for the Under Armor All American game on December 31," he said. "I'll make my decision at the game."
