Grice Picks Up A&M Offer
Texas A&M has enjoyed one of the most potent tandem of running backs in the country this season. With both Cyrus Gray and Christine Michael pairing up to provide an amazing one-two punch out of the backfield for the Aggies it is hard not to peek ahead to see what might become of the run game when they leave.
Gray is a senior and speculation has run rampant on if Michael might opt to jump straight to the NFL after this season. With 2012 Spring Dekaney running back Trey Williams proving to be a potent player, and the four star back set to sign with the Aggies in February, part of the answer is likely already in hand. In this day and age where multiple backs tend to share the load the Aggies may be looking to add another piece to the backfield puzzle.
"My most recent offer has been from Texas A&M, " said Blinn running back Marion Grice following his team's big win Saturday. "I got an offer from them not that long ago."
Grice and his teammates, including current Aggie defensive line commit Logan David, beat previously number one ranked Navarro to claim the top spot themselves. Grice admitted he didn't expect as much of a battle heading into the game.
"It was a lot more of a game than even we expected," said Grice immediately afterwards. "We thought we were going to be able to come out and play well but all credit to them they gave us a really good fight. We had to all come together and play as a team and we were able to do that and finish."
Grice admits the atmosphere the coaches have created at Blinn has helped the team, which sees new players come and go, to remain close and build a family bond.
"We have come together well," said the 6-foot, 215 pound back. "They really stress the family atmosphere of the team here and we all feel like we go out on the field and fight for each other out there. It is a good environment."
Grice also admitted that he had never been to see a game at Kyle Field and that he was still early in the process with no real time to figure out who he liked yet. Something he will wait until the end of his teams season to figure out.
"I have never been to a game there in high school or since I have been here," said the four-star running back. "I haven't taken any of my visits yet but I am planning on doing all of that after the season is over for us. Right now I am still wide open. To be honest I haven't had a chance to really start going through it all yet to see where everybody stands."
Grice rushed for 112 yards in the win with a rushing and receiving touchdown. For the season Grice has rushed for 603 yards and 9 touchdowns with two more touchdowns coming through the air.
