Gibson has a leader

Glades Central outside linebacker Dominique Gibson made it to Winston-Salem last weekend for the Demon Deacons game against Gardner-Webb, and an official visit to Wake Forest.

Gibson said that he had a great time, and that Wake Forest is now his top choice.

"Commitment is not there yet," Gibson said. "I'm not going to say that I'm getting close to it, but I like Wake Forest a lot. I've just got to wait for a while, and talk things over with my family and my dad, and see if everything is okay with him."

For Gibson the visit was a reunion with old friends, and an opportunity to make new ones.

"I was mainly with Ziggy (Zachary Allen), Sousa from Orlando, and I hung out with Bud (Merrill Noel) and A.J. [Marshall] I really like them," Gibson said. "They made me feel at home. It was pretty good. I enjoyed myself a lot."

Ray McCartney is recruiting Gibson for the Demon Deacons, but the three-star recruit (No. 46 outside linebacker nationally by spent more time with defensive backs coach Steve Russ, who he enjoyed getting to know.

The 5-foot-10 and 190-pound prospect said he was told he could play multiple positions in Wake's system. If he plays another position it will likely be safety. Gibson also indicated that he may be able to keep from redshirting. Time will tell.

In the meantime he has more hoops to jump through, like leading 4-0 Belle Glade and setting up other visits.

Nearly a month ago he listed Wake, Marshall and Vanderbilt as his top three, but now South Florida is in the mix. He had plans to visit USF this weekend, but his plans fell through.
