Fresno State begins Fall Camp

The Fresno State Bulldogs began fall camp today in preperation for the 2011 season. There goal this fall is to continue to improve and as Pat Hill says go from GOOD TO GREAT. One way the Bulldogs look to do that is to hand the reigns over to redshirt sophmore quarterback Derek Carr who hopes to bring sucess back to Fresno State.

Coach Hill has been stressing that the team is trying to go from Good to Great. One way that he feels the 'Dogs are trying to do that is by the off season work the player have been doing.

"We really stressed to the players to get stronger in Off-season, these kids have done everything they've been asked to do.Now were just ready to go full force," said Coach Hill.

One player who is key for Fresno State's season is quarterback Derek Carr, who is being looked upon by many fans as the player to finnally get the Bulldogs over the hump.

"Thats Fine with me, God had a plan for me. I am not afraid, I am not anxious im just ready to go out and play," said Derek Carr.

Coach Hill agrees that Derek will be a special player for him.

he has really grown stronger and bigger, he's very acccurate very prcise. The players really like Derek and believe in him," said Hill

As the Bulldog look to air the ball out this year, Fresno State's group of recivers led by senior Devon Wylie will be very competitive in the camp to see who will start alongside Carr.

"We have a good group of recevers, it will be very competitive," said Hill

Defensively Fresno State will be led by Junior linebacker Travis Brown who is stressing the little things as a way for him and his teammates to go from Good to Great.

"Just working a little tings, focusing on ourselves, that will transfer into team play," said Brown who led the team in tackles last year.

Notes from Day 1 : Redshirt Freshman Victor Dean was walking around in a walking boot and will be out for 6-8 weeks. Also Senior linebaker Shawn Plummer was seen rehabbing his surgically reapired Hip. No time table has been set for his return.
