Offensive Targets

With that in mind, here is a look at the Tide's offensive commitments as well as the few remaining uncommitted prospects that could be a part of the Alabama class.

Quarterbacks: Need 1, Committed 1

Breakdown: Alabama wanted to bring in an elite quarterback in the class of 2010, and they got their guy early with the commitment of four-star gunslinger Phillip Sims. Sims has the mental makeup and live arm that could enable him to challenge for early playing time in his career at the Capstone. Sims shattered Virginia prep passing records and often called his own plays at the line of scrimmage at Oscar Smith.

Running backs: Need 1-2, Committed 0

Breakdown: The Tide continues to stockpile weapons at running back, and for 2010, Alabama landed a thunder and lightning duo in the bruising Fowler and state 100 meter champion Grant. Fowler could serve multiple uses in the Tide offense as a H-back, short-yardage tailback or traditional fullback. Grant could contribute early as a kick returner and could line up at slot receiver as well as tailback.

Wide receivers: Need 5-6, Committed 5

Breakdown: The Tide continues to upgrade their athleticism and speed at receiver. Allen could be a true, big and physical outside receiver. Carswell is a shifty slot weapon while White has 10.5 100 meter speed. Malone broke several receiving records in Tennessee. Alabama could add another elite option with Dunkley still a possibility and a decision from the Pahokee star could come at this weekend's Under Armour game.

Offensive lineman: Need 4, Committed 2

Breakdown: Alabama has two tough, physical guards in Lindsay and Shepherd wrapped up and both will be enrolling at Alabama in January. The Tide still has a need for at least one talented tackle to round off the class and preferably two. Stone and Kouandjio are the two most likely targets and both will make their ultimate decision on Signing Day.
