Wasonga pushes back Penn State trip

Four-star West Virginia running back Allan Wasonga was scheduled to take an official visit to Penn State over the weekend but he has decided to push that trip back.

The top-ranked prospect in West Virginia does not yet have another date in mind for an official visit to Happy Valley but on Sunday he said that his decision not to go to Penn State over the weekend should not be taken as a sign that his interest in the Big Ten program is waning.

"No, I didn't end up going," Wasonga said. "I was trying to get a hold of coach (Mike) McQueary but I couldn't so I didn't make it out there. My dad ending up having to work but I also couldn't get up with coach McQueary. I wasn't going to go out there without talking to him.

"I'm definitely going to try to reschedule. Whenever I can get that done I'll be out there."

Wasonga has an official visit to Tennessee lined up for the weekend of November 13. Earlier in October he told Rivals.com that the Vols and Nittany Lions were at the top of the list. He reaffirmed that is still the case this weekend.

"That's the only other official visit I have set up right now," he said. "I want to get those two visits out of the way and once I do that I'll see where things are going. If I need to then I'll start looking into more (visits to other schools).

"Those two are definitely at the top of my list. As far as favorites, I don't have a concrete favorite between those two. I'm not leaning anywhere yet. As soon as I visit those schools I'll definitely be favorite one of them."

Parkersburg High School just completed their regular season and they have their first playoff game in two weeks.

Wasonga played in seven of Parkerburg's 10 games this year, rushing for 1,100 yards and 15 touchdowns.
