V-Cast: PK and Comp on MSU ND thriller
EAST LANSING - Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio has coached in 10 games with the Megaphone Trophy on the line during his time as an assistant coach and the past four years as the head coach.
During his weekly press conference last Tuesday, Dantonio recalled a number of the big plays he had seen Michigan State players make to defeat the Fighting Irish during the games he had been involved in as a Spartan coach. Four days later, Dantonio made the call that led to the biggest play in the recent history of the rivalry, a 29-yard touchdown pass from Aaron Bates to Charlie Gantt on a fake field goal play nicknamed "little giant" by the Spartan head coach.
After the dust had settled on Michigan State's memorable victory over Notre Dame, SpartanMag.com staffers Jim Comparoni and Paul Konyndyk shared their thoughts on the instant classic between Michigan State Notre Dame.
Comp and PK spent a lot of time discussing the game-winning touchdown in overtime as well as some of the plays on defense that held the Fighting Irish to a field goal in their over time.
Other topics include the areas of concern for the defense as well as areas of improvement. After surrendering the lead in two minutes into the final quarter, Michigan State's defense dug in and stopped the Fighting Irish on their final two possessions.
