Rudock enjoys official visit

After committing to Iowa in July, Florida quarterback Jake Rudock had a chance to get back on campus this past weekend to make his official visit with the Hawkeyes. The trip gave the 6-foot-3, 190-pound Rudock an opportunity to see his first game in Kinnick Stadium and get more comfortable with his surroundings in Iowa City. The future Hawkeye talks about the visit and much more in this update.

Q: How did your official visit go last weekend?

RUDOCK: I thought it went really well. Being able to actually be there for a game and experience the atmosphere for myself was awesome.

Q: Can you talk a little more about the game itself and going through that experience?

RUDOCK: The fans are awesome. The students run into the stadium trying to get good seats and everything. We went up to the press box and looked at that a little more and it was awesome to see the view from there with everything they have going on. Then the stadium was completely packed. I don't think there was one seat that was empty. Then I went into the locker room after the game and heard Coach Ferentz talk to the team and just took it all in.

Q: Being a quarterback, what did you think of what you saw from the offense on Saturday?

RUDOCK: Passing wise, they did a great job and also running the ball too. The big key for that game was they got up early. The first and second drive, they just went down the field on them. That gave them a boost and the defense a boost. The offense really got it working early, so it gave a little bit of room for error, but they didn't need it.

Rudock and his teammates at St. Thomas Aquinas are 1-0 on the season after a 31-3 victory over Dallas Skyline on Labor Day. The three-star prospect completed 10 of 14 passes for 230 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the game. Up next, the Raiders play at Boyd Anderson on Thursday, September 16.
