Bad snaps stall offense, irk Pouncey

Florida coach Urban Meyer said early last week that senior Mike Pouncey would start at center Saturday against Miami of Ohio in spite of the team having several injuries on the offensive line because "I want the ball to hit the quarterback in the hands and not look like the Bad News Bears out there."


Stunningly, it was Pouncey, a returning All-American, who struggled more than any another Gator in Florida's lethargic 34-12 win Saturday in its home opener. Two of his shotgun snaps rolled to quarterback John Brantley, one sailed over his head and a handful of others were either low or wide.

The result?

Florida's offense was stunted from the start, and most of the damage was self-inflicted.
