Smith ends up where he wants to be

Massillon (Ohio) wide receiver Devin Smith knew where he wanted to go to college all along and once Ohio State came across with an offer on Monday the decision was easy. The 6-foot-1, 175-pounder pulled the trigger for Ohio State and sealed the deal. Smith is the 15th commitment in the class for the Buckeyes and now gives Ohio State ten in-state commits.

The Ohio State coaches were very interested in Smith during the camp and most people believed that a strong outing would be all that it would take for Smith to get that offer. Smith admitted after the camp that Ohio State was the place that he wanted to be and now he will be part of the Ohio State class.

Smith had a big fan in Ohio State commit Braxton Miller who said that he could see the newest Buckeye being his 'go-to' guy and now the pair will have the chance to help shape the future of the Ohio State offense in years to come after the pair get a chance to sign in February of 2011.

The three star receiver is an accomplished track athlete as well and recently put up along jump up 23-feet-3.5 inches and a high jump of 6-foot-8 at a recent track meet. While he may not have to show either of those skills on the football field it does show that the Buckeyes have locked up a tremendous athlete that will go a long way in the receiver corps.

Smith is the second wide receiver to commit along with Evan Spencer and Ohio State is still pursuing Shane Wynn and have outside shots at Phillip Dorsett and Ja'Juan Story but it appears the at the receiver class is going to end at three receivers with Wynn being the favorite.

We will have more on Smith's commitment including his reaction to being a new Buckeye here in the very near future.
