Rivals250 WR to camp at UA
Madison (MS) Central wide receiver Tobias Singleton already holds over a dozen scholarship offers but saw his profile raised once again this week when he was named a member of the Rivals250 for the Class of 2011. Singleton, who is rated as a four-star prospect, spent the spring traveling around the South to test his skills and showcase his abilities and his efforts appear to have paid off, earning the playmaker offers from half the SEC as well as other top programs.
"I've been to a few combines this spring and this weekend I'm going to Oklahoma for their camp and then to Florida State in a couple of weeks," Singleton said. "It's been a pretty busy spring. I wasn't actually able to make it to the Nike Combine in Tuscaloosa but I went down the next day and got a chance to see some of the guys working out."
Singleton's trip to Tuscaloosa also gave him a chance to further familiarize himself with the campus of the defending national champions, who have been actively pursuing 6-foot-2, 187-pound receiver.
"I talk to Alabama a lot. I've been keeping in touch with them and I'm probably going to their camp on June 18th. I really like Alabama coaches, they are really straightforward, honest guys who don't just tell me what I want to hear."
"Alabama's spring game was a big deal for me. I wasn't expecting it to be as huge an event as it was. It showed me how big football is at Alabama with the students and the fans and that really means a lot."
Singelton said that despite the Crimson Tide's strong early impression, he isn't ready to name them or anyone else as a favorite at this point.
"I can't really put anybody ahead of anybody else right now. I'm trying to keep myself totally open at this point. I'm planning on traveling around and taking visits this summer and then hopefully cutting my list down at the start of the season. Right now I'm planning to make my decision on Signing Day but it could happen before then if things start to feel right with a particular school."
Singleton is rated the No. 126 overall prospect in the nation.
