NIKE: Secondary Focus

Sunday's NIKE Camp in Palo Alto was expected to feature trench warfare, but in the distance, several defensive backs made their own bid for the spotlight.

While Sacramento (Calif.) Grant safety James Sample had the most name recognition, it was two sophomores which stole the show.

Sample's teammate, Shaq Thompson, immediately drew attention as a 6-foot-2, 190-pound safety posing as a cornerback. While his future position will be debated, Thompson's physical skills warrant scholarship offers from schools throughout the PAC-10.
