Texas QB likes the Bulldogs
Last summer Westlake quarterback Preston Dewey made the trek from Austin, Texas to Mississippi State to attend camp.
It's an experience he hopes to repeat this summer in order to learn from what he considers two of the top quarterback coaches in the country in Dan Mullen and Les Koenning[/db].
"I went up there last summer for a camp," Dewey said. "I've actually known Coach Koenning for a while when he was at (Texas) A&M. He's a great quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator. I love their coaching staff and Coach Mullen's history of coaching quarterbacks. Their campus is awesome and I love Starkville. It's an awesome place and seems like a great fit for me."
The 6-foot-1, 179-pounder runs a spread style offense at his high school and believes he would fit perfectly into Mullen's scheme with the Bulldogs.
"We pretty much run (Mississippi State's) offense here," Dewey said. "We run Florida's offense and Coach Mullen brought that over to Mississippi State. I would fit right into it. They are definitely heading in the right direction under Coach Mullen. I think their football team is about to turn it around in the right direction pretty soon."
Dewey is also drawing interest from Baylor, LSU, SMU, TCU, Texas A&M and UCLA but is still awaiting his first scholarship offer.
