TU Football Notebook

A few weeks ago, Tulsa had its sights on winning the Conference USA championship. The Golden Hurricane has played in the championship game two straight seasons, and lost both. Retribution will have to wait.

After Houston handed Tulsa its fourth straight loss 46-45 on Saturday, and third in the conference, Tulsa now turns it focus to qualifying for a bowl game. The Golden Hurricane is 0-2 in conference title games under head coach Todd Graham, but 2-0 in bowl games.

Tulsa needs two wins in its final three games to qualify for a bowl bid. Time will tell whether the sting of the last-second loss, in a game Tulsa appeared to have safely tucked away, will affect its preparation for the stretch run. The Cougars scored nine points in the final 21 seconds to steal the win.

"We've got three games left, and we've got to win those to go to a bowl," said Tulsa quarterback G.J. Kinne.
