Olaniyan back from UNC
One-time Duke commit and four-star linebacker Aramide Olaniyan attended a game at North Carolina over the weekend, signaling his interest in the Blue Devils' biggest rival.
The 6-foot-2, 202-pound athlete from Woodberry Forrest School in Virginia has gotten off to an excellent start so far in his senior year.
His team is 4-0 through the first part of the season and Olaniyan is putting up big numbers, providing justification for all the accolades he has received.
In the first game of the year Olaniyan recorded six tackles for loss, and he added two more to that total in the second game. In the four games total he has recorded five sacks, blocked a punt and returned a kickoff for a touchdown. That versatility is something college coaches love.
How did his trip to Chapel Hill go on Saturday?
"It was definitely a great trip," he explained. "I'd definitely say after the trip they've moved up on my list, just because of how good a school it is and how coach (Butch) Davis is trying to improve their program.
"The big thing is I've got to get my parents on campus so they can check it out."
Olaniyan's parents thought highly of Duke before he committed to the Blue Devils, largely because his family places a very high level of importance on academics. Their opinion could largely determine just how much of a factor UNC is in his recruitment.
"I've been to UNC a bunch," he continued. "I was at the Virginia Tech game last year and I've taken a few unofficials down there. I've been there a good amount so I'm pretty familiar with them. I like what I've seen."
