Irish coaches visit Thomas
Running back Carlton Thomas rushed for more than 2,200 yards last season on his way to earning early scholarship offers from several major college programs. The 5-foot-7, 159-pounder continues to draw interest as college coaches from across the country have dropped in at Frostproof High in Florida.
"A couple of schools have come down," Thomas said. "Notre Dame, Auburn and North Carolina were here (Monday) and Iowa, Florida, Miami, Arizona State and Mississippi State have been in."
Bernie Parmalee and Mike Haywood represented Notre Dame.
"I said hello to them but then they talked to my coach," Thomas said. "They said they were recruiting me hard and they wouldn't be recruiting me if they didn't think I could play my freshman year."
