Virginia linebacker talks Ohio State offer

With Ohio State likely taking two or three linebackers in the 2013 cycle, the Buckeyes are searching far and wide for the nation's top talent at the position. Recently an offer went out to Ashburn (Va.) Briar Woods product Matt Rolin. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound outside linebacker is one of the top linebacker prospects in the Atlantic East.
"I was really excited about that offer," said Rolin. "With Urban Meyer coming from Florida and the success he had there, I'm real excited about the offer. (Ohio State) has always been a top school and one that I grew up watching so it's definitely exciting."
So far, Rolin's main contact with Ohio State has been through wide receivers coach Zach Smith who recruits the area.
"I talked with coach Smith last week," he said. "He told me to start giving him a call about once a week so I'll be giving him a call (on Monday). He seems like a real good guy, he said there's a chance that I could play early, he's a cool guy."
Over the next few weeks Rolin will be making several unofficial visits to schools up and down the east coast.
"Next weekend I'm going to Maryland," he explained. "The following week I'll be at Boston College and then April 1st through 6th I'll be going to Alabama, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida State."
With 16 offers to his credit already, Rolin is a wanted man in college recruiting circles. Rolin is hoping that some of his upcoming visits will lead to offers.
"Right now I'm trying to pick up offers from South Carolina and Alabama because they are potentially two of my top schools," he said. "I have a lot of family in South Carolina so I'm looking forward to touring the campus and everything."
At this time, Rolin seems in no rush to make a decision and said that while he likely would not take all five official visits, that things will probably drag into the fall.
"I think I'll make a decision sometime during my senior year," he said.
